I’ve made several of these floating ornaments over the years (mostly college logos with graduation years), but I really love the the delicateness of this nativity cut. I used navy
Oracle 651 vinyl that I had in my stash. To cut the vinyl I used the standard “Silhouette Vinyl” blade depth, speed and pressure that is available as an option in Design Studio software. Once the vinyl was cut and weeded, I used clear transfer tape to move the design to adhere it to clear acetate piece cut to fit inside ornament. The cut design is from the Silhouette Store (called “Nativity Ornament). Clear ornament purchased from Michael’s.
Hello Susan. I just want to tell you how much I love, love, love your blog. You have made the challenge of hooping much less daunting. I have found this to be one of my biggest fears and after reading and studying your steps I am not as terrified as I was that I will ruin a project. I am always fearful of not measuring correctly and the layout will be off but I really do understand better now thanks to you. Best regards, Nicolina 🙂

You are so kind, Nicolina. Do let me know if there are other projects you want me to demo in a tutorial. I may do an embossed monogrammed towel next unless you would rather see something else.

Hi Karla! I’m so sorry it took me so long to respond to your comment! The honest truth is, I have no idea. My daughter is a professional web developer. I’ve sent her a text and asked if she could help me add a “subscribe” button to my blog. Hopefully I’ll have that added by this weekend. Thanks for your kind patience!

What size do you cut your acetate sheets to please? These are just beautiful!

Thanks, Cathryn! I cut the acetate sheets in a circle, just slightly smaller than the width of the ornament. I made that ornament years ago so I can’t really remember exactly what size that particular circle was.
