I’ve made several of these floating ornaments over the years (mostly college logos with graduation years), but I really love the the delicateness of this nativity cut. I used navy
Oracle 651 vinyl that I had in my stash. To cut the vinyl I used the standard “Silhouette Vinyl” blade depth, speed and pressure that is available as an option in Design Studio software. Once the vinyl was cut and weeded, I used clear transfer tape to move the design to adhere it to clear acetate piece cut to fit inside ornament. The cut design is from the Silhouette Store (called “Nativity Ornament). Clear ornament purchased from Michael’s.

I have found this to be one of my biggest fears and after reading and studying your steps I am not as terrified as I was that I will ruin a project. What size do you cut your acetate sheets to please? These are just beautiful!

Thanks, Cathryn! I cut the acetate sheets in a circle, just slightly smaller than the width of the ornament. I made that ornament years ago so I can’t really remember exactly what size that particular circle was.
